Objective
- Install two Comms cabs to replace existing comms cabs
- Install new Switches
- Run cables for 4 additional cable runs.
- Install new Access points
- Tidy existing MDF with replace existing switches.
Process Outline
- Documentation and Planning
- Current Setup Documentation:
- Create a comprehensive map of all communication cabinets, detailing interconnections and patching.
- Record the current equipment, cable types, and connections in each cabinet.
- Project Planning:
- Develop a detailed project plan to minimize operational disruption.
- Communicate the schedule and potential impacts to Customer in advance.
- Cabling
- Run additional cables for access points,
- Install additional access points.
- Test connection and power on new Access points.
- Current Setup Documentation:
- Cable works:
- Running cables at hight and across warehouse floor using scissor lift.
- Completing works around staff working on site.
- Cable Termination:
- Terminate the cables in both Comms Cabinets and in required location. ensuring secure and accurate connections.
- Mount Access point as required.
- Comms cabinet work
- Using Patching map, remove existing cables
- Cut back out of existing comms cabinet to remove existing patch panels without have re-terminating cables
- Rack-mount and install the new switches and original patch panels
- Configure the new switches, reconnect and test
- Install new switches in MDF and replace long cables with short cables where possible.
- Finalisation and Documentation
- Cabinet Organization:
- Ensure all comms cabinets are left clean and organised.
- Verify that all new equipment is tested
- Complete WIFI survey to confirm coverage.
- Documentation:
- Update all cabling maps and records to reflect the new setup.
- Include details on new connections, equipment locations, and cable routing.
